a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.”

ANATOLE FRANCE

Jennifer Piccin-Shaw

FOUNDER & OWNER

I have loved animals for as long as I can remember. My first word was ‘dog’, and my earliest playmates were a rex rabbit and an Old English sheepdog. I am a Colorado native, growing up in Colorado Springs and earning my B.S. in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University. My knowledge of exotic animal grooming, handling and behaviors plus trusting my intuition, are the unique skills that set me apart from other exotic pet groomers.

I have worked with exotic animals- wild and companion pets- for more than 20 years. My experience in veterinary hospitals, zoo, retail store, wholesale provider, and research facilities, together with attending behavior workshops, has provided me with unique skills for grooming and taking care of exotic pets.

My own family has included chinchillas, parrots, lizards, tortoises and dogs and my hope is to provide them all with  amazing lives.

How it all Started

I started Jen’s Exotic Pet Services after a veterinarian friend had clients asking for a referral for mobile groomer for their exotic pets. At the time, there was a mobile bird groomer, so I focused on mobile grooming for small mammals (rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets) and reptiles (lizards, turtles and tortoises). When I created my logo, I used images that represented special animals from my life. The chinchilla is for Elvis, who I adopted in college after he was abandoned, and was part of my life for 14 years. The tortoise is for the 3 Sulcata tortoises we rescued when they outgrew previous homes. And the sun conure is for Cowlick, rescued from euthanasia at 6 weeks old, and my baby for 21 years. The company name is based on my initials.
